Affectionately called “Casa do Gil”, it is intended for the reception of children who are at social and/or clinical risk and cannot be with their families.
Comprised of a team of specialized professionals, the house works with three key aspects in childhood and youth: Health, Education and Psychosocial Monitoring.
Gil’s house, destined for the reception of children, among 0 to 12 years old, with a process of promotion and protection, being therefore unable to return to their families, given the social and/or clinical risk. has the capacity to 16 children, welcoming six babies up to 2 years old, in a nursery, and ten children, from 2 years old, in six double bedrooms.
Gil’s house is in operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The current population that Casa do Gil hosts needs special attention, given the complexity of its family, social and emotional problems, requiring a repairing intervention of the trauma and driving forces in the establishment of positive relationships, as well as in the development of the autonomy and participation of all stakeholders: professionals, children and their respective families.
based on Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Casa do Gil team, made up of specialized professionals, commits to:
a) Promote the realization of each child’s life project, in the shortest possible time, ensuring their well-being and safety;
b) provide children with the satisfaction of all their basic needs in living conditions as close as possible to those of a family structure and the satisfaction of specific needs, resulting from residential care, through monitoring and surveillance at a social, clinical and educational level;
c) provide the means that promote the personal appreciation of each child.
In this sense, a working logic was created, bioecological model, starting the process of the child to be based on Six areas of intervention: Justice, the family, physical health / mental health, education/training, everyday life and the community. With a view to a greater individualized accompaniment, essential for the establishment of protective relationships, each child has a REFERENCE DOUBLE, constituted by a technician and an educator, having as a premise the answer to their needs, ensuring the fulfillment of their life project, in real time as well as the presence of figures of proximity, most of their day.
